Davido, one of Nigeria's most renowned music stars, alongside Burna Boy and other top artists, is set to perform at the inaugural Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) All-Star Game. The highly anticipated event, organized in partnership with Nilayo Sports Management, aims to promote the league and raise awareness about Nigerian football.
The NPFL All-Star Game will feature 44 players, divided into two teams representing the Northern and Southern Conferences, with 22 players from each conference. Each player will receive a N1 million appearance fee. Additionally, celebrity coaches will join the regular coaches, earning N2 million as an appearance fee.
According to NPFL Chairman, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, "We're trying to replicate the success we saw last year with the Super 6 tournament, where fans from across the country gathered at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, to celebrate Nigerian homegrown soccer stars. It was a huge success, with SuperSport broadcasting the event live."
Hon. Elegbeley emphasized the significance of the league in Nigeria's football landscape, stating, "The league is a permanent fixture in the country. While national teams come and go, the league remains constant, and we are committed to elevating it to greater heights."
He further highlighted the excitement surrounding the event, saying, "At the end of the season, we will hold the NPFL All-Star Game, where we'll select the best players in the league and divide them into two teams representing the Northern and Southern Conferences. It's going to be an incredible game."
