Ukrainian drone strike 'metres from nuclear plant', Russia says
A Ukrainian drone strike hit just metres from Europe's biggest nuclear power plant earlier today, Russia has claimed.
The strike, on the Russian-occupied city of Enerhodar, hit a car park some 300m from one of the reactors at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
Ukraine has not commented on the claims.
The plant has been occupied since the early days of the war by Russian forces.
The plant's management said no safety violations were recorded.
"The radiation background at the site and in the observation area is normal," it said.
Russia and Ukraine regularly accuse each other of shelling the plant and the surrounding areas.
