British government targets two with travel bans for alleged Hamas, Hezbollah links
The British government says it has imposed travel bans on two individuals with links to the Gaza war who it had already sanctioned under domestic counterterrorism powers.
Mustafa Ayash, director and founder of the Gaza Now television and social media channels operative from inside the Gaza Strip, and suspected Hezbollah financier Nazem Ahmad are banned from entering the United Kingdom, it said in a statement.
“The travel bans are a part of continued efforts to protect the integrity of the UK economy from terrorist financing threats,” the government said.
Ayash was sanctioned in March for providing financial support to a media network with millions of followers inside Gaza which the government alleges supported Hamas. The UK blacklisted Ahmad in April 2023 on suspicion of financing Lebanon’s Hezbollah. He was also sanctioned by the United States in 2019.
Gaza Now said in a statement that the British government is trying to cover up its own corruption and “participation in the war of extermination in Gaza”.
