Nigerian boxer Gabriel Oluwasegun Olanrewaju, also known as Segun 'Success' Olanrewaju, tragically passed away after collapsing during a boxing match against Ghanaian fighter John Mbanugu at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra, Ghana.
The incident occurred on Saturday, March 29, 2025, during the Ghana Professional Boxing League's Fight Night 15. Olanrewaju was reportedly leading on points before he suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed in the ring.
Despite efforts to revive him, Olanrewaju was pronounced dead. His body was later deposited at the Korle Bu mortuary. The boxing community is in mourning, paying tribute to Olanrewaju's legacy as a former national and West African light-heavyweight champion.
