While global attention fixates on the Strait of Hormuz crisis, China has executed a significant trade maneuver. Beijing announced zero tariffs on products from all 53 African countries maintaining diplomatic ties with it. This bold policy removes trade barriers, aiming to boost African exports and deepen economic integration with the continent. Analysts see it as a calculated long-game strategy by China to expand influence and secure resources while Western powers are distracted by Middle East conflicts. The move could reshape global supply chains and strengthen Beijing’s foothold in Africa for decades.
Manchester United confirm exit of "beloved" defender in £8.4m deal
Manchester United have confirmed that defender Willy Kambwala has left the club to join Villarreal in a €10m (£8.4m) deal.
The 19-year-old earned the trust of head coach Erik ten Hag in the 2023-24 campaign, where he played 10 times for the first team thanks to the Red Devils' frequent injury problems at the back.
Kambwala, who joined the Man United academy from Sochaux in 2020, made eight Premier League appearances for the 20-time English champions - three from the first whistle - while also featuring twice in the Red Devils' triumphant FA Cup campaign.
The versatility of the Frenchman came in handy last term too, as he played both centrally and on the right-hand side of defence for Man United, but his contract was due to expire in the summer of 2025.
Despite already seeing their defensive ranks thinned by the exit of Raphael Varane on a free transfer, Man United accepted a reported bid of £8.4m from Villarreal for Kambwala, whom the Red Devils paid a moving tribute to on Monday
