Napoli remove Osimhen from their squad list, assigns his No. 9 shirt to Lukaku
Napoli have removed Victor Osimhen from their first-team squad and handed his No. 9 shirt to new signing Romelu Lukaku.
This move comes after failed transfers to Chelsea and Al Ahli on Deadline Day.
Osimhen, 25, had been widely expected to leave Napoli ti’s summer, with Chelsea reportedly in negotiations until the 11th hour of the transfer window.
However, no agreement was reached. Similarly, Al Ahli, who had initially agreed on a deal for Osimhen, ended up signing Ivan Toney from Brentford.
With these deals falling through, Osimhen now finds himself in a tough situation, left out of Napoli’s plans despite being one of their top players last season.
The Nigerian striker has also been removed from the club’s website, while Lukaku, who recently joined from Chelsea, is now listed as Napoli’s new No. 9.
