Jose Manuel Albares, Spain’s foreign minister, says on X that he met Hakan Fidan of Turkey, and that the pair discussed the continuing negotiations to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
Though neither country is directly involved in ceasefire talks, both have been outspoken role in the international community over Israel’s role in the conflict and its killing of civilians.
In late July, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan threatened that his country could intervene militarily in Israel’s war on Gaza, and in May, Spain formally recognised the State of Palestine, drawing ire and sanction from Israel.
