Newcastle United winger Harvey Barnes scored two goals in seven minutes as his side snatched a thrilling 2-1 home win over Manchester City on Saturday, stopping the visitors from closing the gap on Arsenal at the top of the Premier League.
Barnes made amends for an early miss, picking up the ball from Bruno Guimaraes on the edge of the box and arrowing home a shot at the foot of the left post. The visitors equalized through Ruben Dias, but Barnes struck again two minutes later, hooking the ball home after Guimaraes' header hit the crossbar.
Barnes was the standout performer, and his double was deservedly rewarded. Man City's Pep Guardiola
was unhappy with some decisions, but Newcastle's physical presence
and determination ultimately paid off.
