Indian Tejas Fighter Jet Crashes at Dubai Air Show, Pilot Killed
An Indian Air Force Tejas fighter jet crashed during a demonstration at the Dubai Air Show on Friday, resulting in the death of the pilot. The incident occurred around 2:10 p.m. local time at Al Maktoum International Airport, where the air show was being held.
The plane, which was performing an aerial display, appeared to lose control and dived directly towards the ground, sending a fireball into the air and thick black smoke into the sky. Emergency services, including firefighters and ambulances, rushed to the scene to respond to the incident.
The Indian Air Force has expressed its regret over the loss of life and has constituted a court of inquiry to determine the cause of the crash. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also expressed his condolences, stating that the nation stands firmly with the bereaved family.
The Tejas is an indigenously developed Indian multirole light combat aircraft designed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). This is the second crash of the Tejas aircraft in recent years, with the previous incident occurring in March 2024 near Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.
