MUN Accuses Sudan's RSF of War Crimes in El-Fasher
The United Nations has accused Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of committing war crimes and possible crimes against humanity in the city of El-Fasher, Darfur region. The RSF's October 2025 offensive resulted in over 6,000 killings, widespread sexual violence, and systematic attacks on civilians. The UN Human Rights Office report, based on interviews with over 140 victims and witnesses, describes the violence as "shocking in its scale and brutality". ¹ ² ³
The RSF's actions, including mass killings, summary executions, and abductions for ransom, may constitute crimes against humanity. The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, calls for credible investigations and accountability, emphasizing that impunity fuels continued violence.
What do you think should be the international community's response to these alleged war crimes? Will the UN's accusation lead to meaningful accountability for the perpetrators?
