Washington says there are no active or scheduled talks with Tehran. President Donald Trump stated Tuesday there were "no conversations taking place with Iran, and none were scheduled, adding that the Strait of Hormuz was open".
Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei countered that Iran is not currently holding talks with the United States and is in discussions with Oman over a temporary safe route.
A senior Iranian official said within weeks the US must implement all provisions of the June memorandum of understanding, calling it a precondition for further negotiations.
